This past Tuesday night, June 30th, a group of Harvest Community members gathered together to give thanks to the Lord for all He’s done these last three years through Chapter Two, preparing our church for the future, and to impact more lives than ever before.
Pastor Greg’s wife, Cathe, shared with us her connection to this property, and how she came here when she was just 17 years old. For 35 years she’s seen lives being changed and now through these new buildings, she’s expecting even more people to be impacted, including her own grandchildren.
Pastor Greg walked us through the history of Harvest Christian Fellowship and recalled how every step the church has taken has been a step of faith, from building the original Sanctuary to reaching thousands worldwide at the Harvest Crusades.
Then Pastor Jeff reiterated that step of faith by reminding us that Nehemiah rallied the people in Jerusalem and spoke to them about the greatness of God! When our focus is on His greatness, we’re able then to see great opportunities, which is what Chapter Two is all about; opportunities to continue to reach out with the Gospel and impact more lives than ever before through these wonderful new facilities.
As to the current state of Chapter Two, Pastor John Collins gave us a report on how the giving has gone. From the three cents a Sunday school student set aside for the project to the thousands given thus far, we’re making progress and God continues to provide day by day. But work still needs to be finished.
We heard from current Harvest Christian Fellowship board member Rodney Couch, who shared the boards’ pleasure in the steadfast mission statement of the church; “knowing God and making Him known” and how the addition of these new buildings will help accomplish that.
Finally, Pastor Paul helped communicate the vision of Harvest. He reminded us that “…without vision the people perish” and Harvest is a church rich in vision. It doesn’t stop with these buildings however, a new phase of Chapter Two will be introduced to the church community called “Paving the Way”, an effort to complete our additional 450 new parking spaces.
Be looking for detailed information about “Paving the Way” in your weekly bulletins on Sundays and in a monthly Chapter Two letter that will come in the mail.
What a blessing to be part of something so big, part of a vision based on the life-changing message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and a continued commitment to impact lives now, and for many generations to come.
