I know it can be hard when the one you so deeply love has passed on. My father passed away some time ago, and so I can relate to loss. May God strengthen you and may His light shine upon you during this time of grieving. To be quite honest it came as a shock to me when I recieved the news about the passing of your son. You’re a good man Pastor Greg, my heart goes out to you and all your family. I heard your messages on the radio on my way to work when I lived in Southern California. Since then I’ve moved to Northern California and don’t really know what times you preach on the radio over here. Be strong.

I live in Northern California and receive your email Devotions, which have helped me in so many ways. I am so sorry for your family’s loss and will be praying for you along with your many friends and your congregation. Today’s devotion hit home for me as I have just lost my father and am going through some very tough times. I thank you so much for your insight to God’s word and how through your sorrow you are still helping others.

God Bless you through these hard times and always,

    Diane

My heart is full as I write to you and your beautiful family. My son was taken to be with the Lord in September of 1991. He was accidentally shot by his older brother as he was cleaning his gun while on a trip with their Father. It was a double-edged sword dealing with my youngest son’s death and holding the hand of my older son who was his brothers best friend. Knowing Billy was saved was my only comfort at the time. My oldest son had received the Lord just about 8 months earlier. Billy’s death brought my husband to the Lord and our faith is stonger than ever. My son Jim as brought 3 of his friends to the Lord by sharing his faith and trust in our Lord Jesus. David Rosales was our pastor in Chino at Calvary Chapel. Since moving to Las Vegas (ugh) I rely on your ministry through the computer. But my heart is with Harvest and Calvary. God Bless you and your Family.
Your, Sister in the Lord. Norma Farmer

  6. Kim says:

When the groanings are to deep for words, the Holy Spirit intercedes according to His will. I don’t know what to say, but may our Provider comfort you.

  7. Dear Laurie family,

We are so very sorry about the loss of your beloved son/brother/husband. But it was in the Lord’s timing and Christopher is in a much better place now. He was such a Godly person and now he’s rejoicing in heaven with the Almighty God. We grieve not as people who have lost someone forever, but as people who have lost someone on earth but will surely see him again when we all rejoice in heaven. Death is not the end of life, for God’s children, it is the beginning of eternity in heaven. Our prayers go out to you guys. May the Lord bless you and give you the strength and comfort to get through this. May he also give you peace that passes understanding. May the Lord continue to use Greg as a light that shines in the darkness of this world and a vessel in which he brings others to know Him. We also keep the Crusades in our prayers, that they may be prosperous and that they may touch and convict the hearts of many. May God bless you Laurie family!
    All our love,
    William,Lisa,Rebecca,Leti,and Billy Bernard.

  9. Lynda says:

Christopher is a reminder that the life we have is short.
Only the things we’ve done to bring God glory matters.
    Live every moment for Christ.

  10. Elizete says:

    Dear Pastor Greg,
As a mother myself I cannot imagine burying my children. I do not know how I would grieve in a time like this…
I was deeply saddened and cried so much when I heard about Christopher’s death. It amazing what God’s love does to us Christians! It unites us in times like this. Times of great mourning and grief…
I never met Christopher , you or anybody from your family, but just hearing you talking about them at the Harvest Crusade each year, it makes me feel I know you all, like you are part of my biological family. I love you all so deeply, with the love that only Christ can explain how and where it comes from. I would like to extend to you, Cathe, Jonathan, your daughter- in- law, and granddaughter Stella my deepest sympathy for your tremendous loss. My prayers are with you and your family in this time of great sadness. May God give you the comfort and peace that only Him can give you. You , your family and Harvest Ministry are a blessing in my life. May the Lord continue to use you as His vessel to touch others and bring them to know Him, His love and power.

    My love to you all,

    Elizete Shawki

  12. Chris says:

    Dear Laurie family,

Our deepest condolences from Martha and my sons Chris, Peter, Eric Mendoza .

  13. Carter says:

Dear Greg and Cathe, I remember accepting the Lord Oct. 15, 1973, a Monday night when you spoke Greg (longer hair and beard). The next Saturday the 20th I was baptized by Don McClure. Watching the service last Sunday was stirring me in remembering back then, thinking through the years of when I took a class on Tuesday nights at Calvary c.m. you taught “Personal Evagelism” then it was over to Mike MacIntosh and “Faith in action”. I’ve listened over the years and followed on the radio, though at a distance, but because of the transparency in how you teach you make us feel like we’re all your good friend and like we’re sitting at the kitchen table. The stories of your family in the messages make it personal and draw us in, and we can relate to similar situations in our lives. The practical applications to the occurrences that crosses our life’s path have had important impacts in my life as I’ve walked with the Lord (and stumbled). I have three kids 31, 29, and 26. We have a grandson, (what a dimension they bring huh!?). So I can relate to much of your life’s experiences as they’re weaved through your messages and have enjoyed when you’ve talked about the family. To hear of Christopher last week I think made us all feel that we’d lost our own. As you shared last Sunday you don’t know until you’ve been there, I can’t say “I know” only that my heart broke for you as a father Greg, for you as a mother Cathe, a brother Jonathan, and for Brittany, Stella and the one on the way. I’ve laughed at your jokes (even the corny ones), and I weep with you now and look forward to the time when there will be no more tears. I love you guys, Carter

  14. Our deepest thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Pastor Greg and Family, you are an inspiration to our hearts. I thank God for letting us feel the Holy Spirit in your time of sorrow. We weep with you, and joy with you at the same time. We Love you. God bless and be with you and yours.

  15. Juliette says:

    Dear Laurie Family,
We are so very sad for your loss. We have early memories of Christopher(Topher) at CC, as it was Calvery Chapel when we attended your church. It sounds like he grew up to be a fine young man, you should be proud Greg and Cathe. Our hearts break for your loss of a Son, Brother, Husband and a Father. Know that we are praying for you and we hope you find daily comfort in God…. and the legacy your son has left behind…..

  16. peggie says:

    Pastor Greg and Cathe,
Our prayers go out to you and the rest of the family. How sad to lose a child, but
how wonderful it is to know he is in his new home with our father in heaven. It is
hard to let go,and it will take a long time before the hurt gets not so hard to bare.
You two are very strong,God bless you.It was so good of you to be at church with your harvest
family. We love you here at harvest.

  17. Angel says:

My family and I were so saddened to hear that we lost one of our Christian brothers and then because it was Pastor Greg’s son. We were just so hurt but we know the Lord will be with you through this hard time and so will we…..

  18. Selina says:

    Lord,
We thank you for this godly family and we ask you Our Savior Jesus Christ to embrace this family at their time of grief and ease their sorrows, your ways are so much bigger than our ways. I ask you Lord to guide the Laurie Family that you continue to use them in a mighty way. I know Christophers tragic death wil be used to magnify you Lord, I lift this Family up to you Lord.

    Greg and Cathe, Jonathan,
We were shocked and saddened by the news of Chris. We are so sorry. We have been praying for you all daily and in the middle of the night when we wake thinking about what you must be going through. We know there is nothing we can say or do to make it any easier on you, but we are praying for you and know that God is the only one that can.
Jonathan, we are so sorry to hear about your brother. You used to come over to our house in Costa Mesa and skateboard with our son Aaron. He is so sad about the loss of your brother as well. Know that we are praying for you always.

  24. Rose says:

Dear Laurie Family, Please know all your family, friends, and family in Christ are holding you in their arms. Thats what the body does when one of our loved one hurts. There is no ointment that can take this kind of pain away. But please know that we may be many miles away but not in spirit. I wish I could physically hold each one of you in my arms and cry with you. But thats what is so wonderful about our Savior. He can. So when someone comes up to hug you, I hope and pray you feel a bit of me in there and all your family in Christ. Because believe me our hearts are there with you. You are truly loved.

  29. The Driscoll Family says:

Dear Pastor Greg, Cathe, Jonathan, Brittany (and other family members)

The news of Christopher’s passing this past week was devastating to so many people. It definitely sets your mind to wanting to make sure that “you” are right with God, so when that moment comes, we are ready to meet our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Today I was doubtful that you would be at the Church for services, but was so truly truly blessed that you were, along with your wife, Cathe, and son, Jonathan. You ALL showed that even through grief, God is keeping you strong. YES, times of hardness will come and go, but you all showed that FAITH is ALIVE, and God will give us the strength to do even things we don’t feel that we can.
My families love, as well as many many others that I know, are praying for you and your family during this tramatic time, and will continue.

May God continue to strengthen you all today, tomorrow and always….

  30. Elizabeth says:

    Pastor Greg,

I listen to you on k-wave, our church in San Diego lifted up you and your family today, our hearts are crying with you today and we know that you are in the warmth of God’s embrace.

  31. Michelle says:

I can’t tell you what a blessing it was to see you this morning, all of you. To know that our prayers are being answered for you before our eyes. Don was spot on in saying how close knit we are, and for all he brought forth was so needed. I have been at Harvest for 15 years and it is my home. Tragic things have happened to me while attending, and each and every time people reached out to me. Wether it be a ministry that delivered food, a friendly hand or hug, or just being there helped so much. I am so blessed this morning, it was hard just making my way there knowing that whatever the message was, we all would have heavy hearts. But to see Pastor Greg, Cathe, and Jonathan, we know our prayers are being answered, and will continue to be answered. When these tragic things hit in our lives, its where the rubber meets the road, where we are changed the most in our walks with God. We can either allow the enemy to whisper lies in our ears, or we can cling to every word we can get our hands on in the bible. Allow Him to comfort us and give us strength to do things like you all did this morning. I Praise God for what happened in that room today, and will continue to pray for all of you, in His Name.
    God Bless you all…

  32. Tami says:

Pastor Greg, Cathe, Jonathan, Brittany, & Stella,

I was shocked when I heard the news and wept profoundly. My prayer to the Lord was communicated through my tears. I just read today in 2 Kings how the Lord not only heard King Josiah’s prayer but HE SAW HIS TEARS. Truly the Lord is near to the brokenhearted.

My deepest sympathy and most fervent prayers,
    Tami

  33. Darlene says:
