Harvest Missions – Looking Ahead

November 4th 2009

pphp1-150x150

Our November 7 event has been rolled into the November 26 Thanksgiving event – please note the new details!

Harvest Missions has several short-term health missions trips planned for this fall. Pray about joining the teams as they minister not only needed medical services but the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Thursday November 26, 2998 Riverside, CA Our health mission team will work with Cosecha during their Thanksgiving meal for the poor. Come and serve between 8:30 AM-12:30 PM then head home for Thanksgiving Dinner! The health mission team will work with Cosecha to host a Health Fair – on the grounds of the Cosecha church! This was a great outreach last year. We provide health screening (diabetes, obesity and hypertension) and a health fair for children. The Cosecha evangelical team will give people the opportunity to make a profession of faith. We will have a team engage in healing prayer. We need nurses, dieticians, physicians, dentists, chiropractors, health-related students, translators and non-medical people who have a heart to serve. There is no cost to participate and it can’t be any easier to go to the event If you are interested, please register on-line here or contact Glendy Chen by e-mailing her at glcrncde@gmail.com or by calling 951-782-6201.

Saturday December 12, 2009 Tijuana Mexico- Our health mission team will work with Mexican Medical Ministry to host a Medical Brigada and a Children’s Health Fair/Bible School in a location selected by the evangelical churches in Tijuana. This is a great one day trip, where we and other Southern California Christian healthcare professionals provide free medical and dental care to people in need. We need nurses, physicians, dentists, chiropractors, translators and non-medical people who have a heart to serve. This is great evangelical event – where as many as 30 percent of the people who come to the brigade make professions of faith. The local churches disciple the new believers for 2 years. If you want to participate, you will need a completed application, a Harvest release form, and a check for $50 made out to Mexican Medical Ministries, $10 for Harvest Christian Fellowship and some money for dinner. Anybody who wants to participate needs to have all of these items submitted by November 20, 2009. Please contact Glendy Chen glcrncde@gmail.com or by calling 951-782-6201 for more details.

Getting Involved with Harvest Missions

February 2nd 2009

If you want to get involved in Healthcare Missions for 2009, here’s some trips we have scheduled:

March 7, 2009 (Tijuana)

This is a one-day (Saturday) trip.  Working with our partner, Mexican Medical Ministries, we’ll conduct a medical brigada – where we expect to provide clinical care for between 300 and 1,000 people. The medical brigada also has an evangelical focus. Twenty percent of people who attend these brigadas usually make a commitment to faith.

We need doctors, dentists, nurses, translators, and more. The cost for this trip is $60.00 ($50.00 to Mexican Medical Ministries and $10.00 for insurance and gas). We’ll meet in the Harvest parking lot at 4:30 A.M. and expect to return by 10:30 P.M.

April 9-12, 2009  (Nochislan, Mexico)

This is a weekend medical brigada in a small town near Aguas Calientes, Mexico. We will be providing healthcare, health screening, and a Carnival of Health for the kids.  The major goal for this trip is to give people the chance to hear the gospel and see Christ’s love in action. Anticipated cost: $500-550.

May 8-22, 2009 (Yunnan, China)

We will work with our ministry partners Bless China International, Hearts and Hands, and Christar as we travel to Kunming, China. We’ll do follow-ups with the deaf children who received cochlear implants from our 2005 and 2007 teams. We’ll travel to Zhongdian, at 11,000 feet elevation, to teach Tibetan village doctors and nurses at the Prefectural Training Center. The last part of our trip takes us to teach and work with doctors and nurses at a regional hospital near Lincang, which is close to the Myanmar (Burma) border.

The cost for this trip is $2,060, which includes airfare, hotel, ground transportation and all meals. For more information go to: http://healthyunnan.org.

For more information on any of these trips call the Church office at 951-697-6902.

Harvest Missions Heads Back to New Orleans

January 22nd 2009

Harvest Missions is heading back to New Orleans with another team of 15 people from our church. They leave today, January 23 and return February 1.

This is their 18th trip and they’ll be continuing work on Crossfire Church in Slidell, LA. This is the fourth church the various missions teams have helped to rebuild in this devastated area. The basic construction and framing of this church building is done, and they’re hoping to get the electrical and plumbing completed by the end of this trip. Please pray that God would supply the money and supplies they need to get this church completed. It’s going to be another trip to grow our faith in God’s provision.

Pastor Rick Schutte, who heads the Harvest Missions teams says “By concentrating efforts to rebuild the Bible-teaching, Christ-centered churches, we hope to lay the spiritual foundation this area so desperately needs. Our hope is that a spiritual revival would take place in this area”.

God Moves Mountains in Louisiana

July 9th 2008

In June, Pastor Rick Schutte and a team of 22 people from Harvest went to New Orleans for another rebuilding effort in the name of Jesus Christ. Pastor Rick shared with us the obstacles they faced and the triumphs they witnessed. All things are truly possible with God!

Here’s what Pastor Rick told us:

This was our eighth trip into the New Orleans area to help with the
rebuilding efforts there. So far, we’ve assisted on three church projects.
Recently, Crossfire Church in Slidell, Louisiana, was brought to our attention after being destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Once several phone meetings had taken place with Crossfire’s senior pastor, Rick Noote, we began preparations to bring in a team of 22 people from Harvest to help rebuild the church.
Before our plane touched ground we were faced with several roadblocks. County officials placed a cease-and-desist order on the property. The fire marshal would not give permission to begin restoration until the proper permits were secured and there were fees in excess of $45,000 to be paid before we could begin. We also needed a finalized, approved set of plans from their architect and engineer. These were some serious obstacles, yet we knew after praying that the Lord was calling us to help with the rebuilding of Crossfire church. Continue Reading »

Troops…to your knees!

June 12th 2008

As our team of 22 prepares to depart for New Orleans in less than 24 hours, Pastor Rick Schutte received a call from Pastor Rick Noote of Crossfire Church, where we are going to rebuild. The County Building
Department has tagged the church with an order to halt construction.

Just like with Tobias and Sanballat in the days of Nehemiah, Satan does not want the Lord’s work to proceed. While there are other projects that we will be able to work on, and Pastor Schutte (who used to be a general contractor) has given Pastor Noote some advice on dealing with the inspectors, etc., this is a reminder that we need have our tools in one hand and our weapons in the other. We cannot all be with the team as they pick up tools to rebuild our fourth Gulf Coast church; we can proceed to fight the enemy with our greatest weapon . . . prayer!

The good news: As there are many needs for rebuilding, the Lord has given Harvest Missions the burden to rebuild the churches. It is obvious we are on the right path! When you work on a house, if work gets halted, there is one nearby that needs help. We prayerfully seek out churches that the Lord wants rebuilt because they preach the Word. I anxiously look forward to how the Lord will show Himself faithful to bless this effort.

I will update you when more is known.

In His service,

Larry Robillard, Coordinator

Rebuilding in New Orleans

June 10th 2008

A Harvest team will set out this June to assist Greg Mariano and Pastor Rick Noote of Crossfire Church in Slidell, Louisiana in the rebuilding of the church due to the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Rick Noote, formerly a pastor at White Dove Fellowship in Harvey, Louisiana played a big role in the nurturing of the Mariano family when they lived there before moving to Riverside. So, it was no surprise when God moved in Greg’s heart to help Rick. Pastor Rick has been ministering the Gospel for nearly 20 years. By God’s direction, prior to Hurricane Katrina, he planted another church, White Dove Fellowship, on the Northshore of New Orleans in Slidell, Louisiana.

A month after the devastating hurricane hit, Rick was able to see for the first time the destruction that Katrina had done to their church building; including his office and pastoral library. He was totally unprepared for what he found. “I couldn’t believe what I was seeing”, said Rick. “It looked like a giant filled the building with water, shook it up, turned it over, and left it”.

Sadly, another casualty after Katrina struck the area was the congregation and staff’s displacement. Having a burden for his flock, Pastor Rick chose to continue ministering to his congregation. He has also been in prayer about becoming a Calvary Chapel and has taken necessary steps to start the new Crossfire Church of Slidell.

Despite everything they have endured, God continues to show He is faithful. In October 2007, the Lord opened the opportunity for Crossfire Church to acquire their own building when they were able to purchase a 10,000 square foot Annabellem Home located on four acres of land in the heart of Slidell. The Lord then performed yet another miracle when the church was granted the proper zoning by the city after stating their case before the board.

The building is two stories and is basically just a shell at this time without any electrical, wiring, plumbing, A/C, or heating. They have been doing what little work they can on their own, but look forward to the Harvest team coming to help. Pastor Rick’s hopes and prayers will soon be answered in making the building operational as soon as possible so that he can continue to teach and minister to his healing congregation.
